Restoring Our Past … Growing our Present … Investing in our Future

The Environmental Department has set goals to focus on, under various categories, to assist us in restoring the past, growing our present and investing in the future of not only the company, but the environment and the local community as well. These categories include Going Green, Progressive Rehabilitation, Increasing Involvement and Participation and finally, Publicizing our Accomplishments.

To be successful in meeting all of our environmental responsibilities, two more people were recently added to the Environmental Department, thereby strengthening the team with their experience and expertise.

A major upgrade to our existing Emergency Response Procedure was made this year, following the successful implementation of a new Spills Prevention and Contingency Plan.

    • Progressive rehabilitation is ongoing at the Pamour Open Pit
    • Coniaurum Tailings Rehabilitation was completed this summer and was featured in popular industrial tours offered by the Timmins Chamber of Commerce.
    • Delnite tailings stabilization and re-sloping, and the Aunor "B" tailings stabilization was completed in 2008. IMPORTANT NOTE:  All Terrain Vehicles destroy our revegetation efforts if used on reclaimed tailings areas. Please do not use ATV's on these sites!
    • The newly created area of Three Nations Lake basin's shoreline has finally established itself. The earth plug separating the old Three Nations Lake basin from the newly created basin will be removed this winter.
